Season of Photography 2026

GSA Exhibitions is pleased to be a partner in the Season of Photography 2026, presenting two new exhibitions in the Reid Gallery.

The Married Life of Atoms features works by Harry Kerr and Danielle McLeod, curated by Christina McBride and Martha McCulloch, and is on show from 19th September – 31st October 2026.

Stage and Street (14th November 2026 – 9th January 2027) is a major solo show by the British photographer Jill Posener, who documented feminist activism and culture in the 1970s and 1980s, curated by Dr Laura Guy.

We are also working in partnership with Street Level Photoworks,  Glasgow Women’s Library and Many Studios to welcome award-winning artist Joy Gregory, a multi-media artist and author of Shining Lights: Black Women Photographers in 1980s-90s Britain (2024), to deliver The Maud Sulter Annual Lecture in the Reid Lecture Theatre on 22nd October.

The Season of Photography 2026 is a celebration of photography in Scotland running 1st September – 20th December 2026, which highlights and promotes the diversity and abundance of photography exhibitions and events taking place across the country. The Season embraces exhibitions and events at galleries, national and regional museums, photography festivals, Higher Education institutions, and alternative spaces and artists-run initiatives and features a range of contemporary and historical work.

The full programme of events is hosted using the year-round resource Photo Networks Scotland, and embraces the breadth and multiplicity of photographic practice in its various forms. Its goal is to broaden audience reach by encouraging new connections and widening the networks of photography in Scotland.
