Undercomposed Behaviours – A performance by bury and nella
6 – 7pm Thursday 23rd April 2026
Reid Gallery
Free but ticketed – book via Eventbrite
To coincide with our current Reid Gallery exhibition, ‘Black Waters: Inference to the Veil‘, curators Zoë Zo, Zoë Tumika & Zoë Guthrie and Żżo Charlery have invited bury and nella to perform in response to the exhibition.
In this specially commissioned responsive overdubbed screening, the piece takes the form of a duet between Bury’s live oral/aural practice and the scores of the films exhibited in Gallery 3.
Ruby Allen, who is sometimes bury and nella, is an artist and vocalist working with the yelps, textures and rhythms of sound, sculpture and text.
Drawing on histories of protest and resistance; she is interested in mapping dissonant spaces, expressions and histories from within and without realities/unrealities/dreams/portals/tethered/untethered place in the form of vocal gestures, lamentation, collapse and decay.
This exhibition and Curatorial Fellowship are supported by Jerwood Foundation with loans from Jerwood Collection. The Jerwood Curatorial Fellowship seeks to foster diverse voices by offering emerging curators in Scotland their first supported exhibition in an institutional setting. The Fellowship offers a period of research and access to Jerwood Collection and a production budget to develop and stage a public exhibition with an event at The Reid Gallery, The Glasgow School of Art.
