5.30 – 6.45pm Friday 18th October 2024
Barnes Lecture Theatre, GSA Barnes Building, 9-11 W Graham St, Glasgow G4 9LE

Join us for a special video screening with SMITH/STEWART, followed by an Q+A with the artists and Dr Laura Haynes.
The event is an opportunity to look back at selected early SMITH/STEWART video works (dating from the mid 1990’s to early 2000’s), in relation to PRESENT TENSE, their current exhibition of new sculptural installations on show in the Reid Gallery. The screening will be introduced and chaired by Laura Haynes, who will be in conversation with the artists following the screening.
Since the mid 1990’s Stephanie Smith and Eddie Stewart have been making work together as SMITH/STEWART. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and they have participated in key survey shows on both video and language. They have had solo exhibitions in NGBK Berlin, Kunstmuseum Luzern, Portikus Frankfurt am Main, Chisenhale Gallery London, Inverleith House Edinburgh. Their work is in public collections including Arts Council England, The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and Tate.
Dr Laura Haynes is a writer, editor and academic based in Glasgow. She was co-director of MAP magazine and at The Glasgow School of Art is leader of the studio-based interdisciplinary Master of Letters Art Writing postgraduate programme, where she also edits The Yellow Paper: Journal for Art Writing.
