Dimensions Variable: Interaction Design Year 4 Work in Progress
9th – 18th March
Reid Ground Floor Corridor

Dimensions Variableis an exhibition of work in progress by Final Year students on the BA (Hons) Interaction Design programme in the School of Design at Glasgow School of Art. 10 students are represented exploring a diverse range of materials and processes: real-time sound-responsive 3D video works, printed and cast artefacts, projection mapped ceramic ‘data vessels’, palliative VR immersive experiences, co-operative live drawing spaces, touch-reactive ‘narrative tables’, metalwork vibration-sensitive water sculpture, animated video works using Machine Learning workflows, human-sensing responsive light works, electronically-augmented cast objects, real-time 3D interactive digital avatars. The work is centred around an equally diverse array of project themes including explorations of loss and memory, representation and equality, co-creation and authenticity, and more. The Interaction Design programme seeks to expand traditional art and design practices – embracing digital materialism – by exploring the use of coding, generative media, responsive interactive audio visuals, creative Machine Learning, data visualisation, and more – while developing criticality around the semantics of the New Media, fostering consideration and reflection upon their developing practice.
